Change of Command – Te Mana 8 May

As patron of HMNZS Te Mana, Kiingi Tuheitia travelled to Taamaki Makau-Rau (Auckland) for the Change of Command ceremony marking the end of Commander Shane Arndell’s command and the beginning of Commander Kelvin Wishart’s command of the ship. Commander Arndell had led Te Mana’s 182 crew in a seven-month deployment, including 91 days spent conducting counter-piracy operations for the Combined Maritime Forces Combined Task Force 151 (CTF-151) and NATO Operation Ocean Shield. Commander Wishart is an engineer (only the second engineer in the Navy’s history to take command of a warship) who will oversea a significant period of maintenance for Te Mana, now 14 years old.
